(Photo via TNN)Two months after the death of young Lahu activist Chaiyapoom Pasae, anxiety grows as the investigation into the case proceeds at a snail's pace. The authorities insisted that the killing was in "self-defence" and that they had evidence the activist had been involved in the drug trade. Chaiyapoom's death has raised questions not only about how the situation was handled, but also about ongoing state violence in the form of extrajudicial killings. Two months after Chaiyapoom's tragic death, the public is still being kept in the dark. The authorities must realise that they are obliged to clear the air.
